First Nations Media Australia
(Location: Flexible I Full Time, Ongoing I Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Position)
First Nations Media Australia (FNMA) is the national peak body for the First Nations media and communications sector. We represent and support over 240 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media organisations and workers across the country, championing the stories, voices, and rights of our communities.
We are seeking a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead FNMA through its next chapter of growth and impact. This is an opportunity to shape the future of First Nations media, strengthen our sector, and influence national conversations on digital inclusion, broadcasting, and community empowerment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Chief Executive Officer will:

Provide strategic leadership and advocacy for FNMA and the First Nations media sector.

Build strong relationships with government, industry, and community stakeholders.

Drive innovation in digital platforms, broadcasting, and new content opportunities.

Oversee organisational operations, finance, governance, and a committed team.

Advance FNMA’s mission of strengthening First Nations voices, representation, and media sovereignty.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
We’re looking for a leader who is:

A proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, with a deep commitment to community, culture, and self-determination.

Experienced in executive leadership, advocacy, or senior management, with a track record of delivering results.

Skilled in stakeholder engagement, policy, and funding negotiations, with the ability to influence at the highest levels.

Strategic and visionary, while grounded in community values and collaborative leadership.

Knowledgeable about the First Nations media landscape, or passionate about developing that expertise.
